A fitness update: yoga and swimming.

You may remember me posting about yoga quite a few months ago, although probably not… It’s something that I’ve tried so many times, but never managed to stick to it regularly. This week, last summer, was an especially good week. It was sunny, I was on holiday and I had tons of time.

imageNow I made it my new year’s resolution to practise yoga more often, and to do at least three sessions per week. I can proudly say that so far, so good! I signed up to Yogaglo for their 15 day trial (Disclaimer – I have not been asked to talk about them) and I’m really liking it. I have done one of the beginners series, and just have the full class left to do in that. I’m definitely going to do at least one months worth of subscription from them!

My main reasons for doing yoga is that it’s a good way to have a little time to myself without thinking about things. It will also build strength, help flexibility and stretch my hips/legs! I have very little flexibility in my hips and legs. I can’t touch my toes, and I struggle to bend forward keeping my lower back straight. These are the main points that I would like to work on, as well as getting arm stands in. I’ve always wanted to be able to do the scorpion pose!

As well as this I’m going to get back into swimming, and am aiming to go at least once every fortnight. I really do like swimming, and I want to improve on that too! I can only do breaststroke – when swimming front crawl I feel like I’m making huge splashes! I’ve been looking on the Get Speedo Fit part of the Speedo website for tips, as they have some good videos on there! Today is a swim day, and I’m getting back into it!

  1. Always good to have a hobby that’ll just let the mind wonder, almost as good for one as the exercise itself. Great post though and good looking blog, glad I stumbled over this way 🙂

  2. This was my goal this year too, get back into yoga. And I wanted to try swimming, I just hate swimming. Haha. Look forward to seeing more about your progress!
